Covertime is a Data Controller. We exercise overall control of the personal data being processed and are ultimately in charge of and responsible for the processing of your data.

This may include driving licence checks for verification of residence at the address provided, as well as other relevant information necessary for the purpose of providing an insurance quotation.

We use different tools for automated decision-making. This enables us to apply our pricing and acceptance rules quickly and consistently. This determines whether we can provide a quotation and, if so, with which insurer and at what price.

How long we keep information 

Covertime will retain customer data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, and to meet legal and contractual obligations.

 

In exceptional circumstances we may retain data for a longer period where the data is required for the resolution of a dispute, claim or legal proceedings.

Who we share information with

  • Organisations we may be under legal or regulatory obligations to share your personal data with including courts, regulators, law enforcement or in certain cases other insurers

  • If we were to sell part of our business we would need to transfer your personal data to the purchaser of such business.

 

We use third party data processors to enable us to provide our services to you. These parties may receive and/or store personal customer data. When entering agreements with these third parties, it is stipulated that personal data will not be processed for any purpose other than as stated in our respective privacy policies.

Posthog is used to capture user sessions on the website to enable us to conduct funnel analysis, as well as assist customers with queries and provide real-time troubleshooting.  

Postgres 

Postgres is the software that powers our database. 

Sanity 

Sanity is our CMS product that is used to manage the content on our landing and SEO targeted pages. 

Postcoder 

Postcoder is our address lookup provider.  

UK Vehicle Data 

UK Vehicle Data is used for vehicle lookup. 

MyLicence 

MyLicence provides us information regarding a potential customer to check their information and provide that to underwriters. 

Lexis Nexis 

Lexis Nexis is a system that provides us with identity and anti-fraud checks, ensuring that customers are who they say they are. 

Trustpilot A/S

Used to collect and manage customer reviews. Trustpilot send review invitation emails on our behalf.

Google Reviews 

Used to collect and manage customer reviews.  

Motor Data Solutions Ltd 

Motor Data Solutions offers specialist IT and data supply services to the UK MID industry. They process our (your) insurance data to the MID. 

Cloud Flare

Cloudflare is a network that helps websites and services run faster and more securely. Used to secure and protect customer data and shield against malicious activity.

KGM Underwriting Services

KGM are an insurer. If your policy is insured by KGM your data is shared with them for policy administration purposes. Your data may be shared with other third parties in the event you need to make a claim.

Trustpilot A/S

Covertime may contact you via email to invite you to review any services and/or products you received from us in order to collect your feedback and improve our services and products (the “Purpose”). We use an external company, Trustpilot A/S (“Trustpilot”), to collect your feedback which means that we will share your name, email address and reference number with Trustpilot for the Purpose.

Covertime may also use such reviews in other promotional material and media for our advertising and promotional purposes to help other customer’smake informed decisions about our products and services.

Information transfers of data outside the European Economic Area 

The data processing and storage facilities of some of our Third-Party Data Processors may belocated outside the United Kingdom. When this is the case, we used approved standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses)to help ensure that your data is protected to the standard we would accept. By sharing your data, you agree to this transfer, storage and processing.

Keeping your data secure 

Covertime uses Microsoft access control systems to apply cybersecurity principles, ensuring that data is protected against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Key measures include authentication and authorisation, encryption, access controls and regular audit of our data protection measures to ensure they remain effective. 

Sending data over the internet is not completely secure. Covertimewill do its best to protect your data, but we cannot guarantee its security, and sharing data with us is done at your own risk.
